... We Love it here!

Audrey & Rik Goodell are passionate about The Flathead Valley and Northwestern Montana. Here you can breathe the air, drink the water and trust a neighbor’s handshake. We remember each day how blessed we are to live in this great state and in the best nation on earth.

Audrey, a graduate of Drake University, has a long and accomplished career in the Accounting and Fiscal Services field. Over a 30 year period she has served in related capacities (at various firms) from Accounting Manager to Controller to Associate Dean of Fiscal Services at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Here at GBI, she is very capably available to track documents, your building expenses and guard your costs as carefully as if they were her own.

Rik's mother was a Residential Broker so he learned the ropes early and grew up speaking "Real Estate" back when purchase contracts were single-page, hand-written documents and a nice 3/2 home sold for $25,000. He grew up with tools in his hands whether shadowing is dad on home repairs and additions or working on the 35' ketch that they eventually sailed to Hawaii and back.  Rik really has a heart for helping people decode, appreciate and preserve their home and their investment. He wants to teach them how to protect themselves, their loved ones and guests from hazards that may exist therein. He began inspecting in 1985 when, as an already established building contractor, he became frustrated with the misfortunes of his remodeling clients who had recently bought a home but weren't aware of the problems that came with the closing of the escrow.

Audrey and Rik built this business out of thin air, a passionate vision, and years of paying-their-dues effort. Now we get to apply our decades of training and experience in directing people toward improving and preserving their treasured asset and guiding them to an understanding of the health and history of their homes.

Audrey’s innate grasp of budgets and accounting as well as a fiscally conservative nature and decades of experience equips her with what is needed to guard your budget and ensure your funds are spent wisely.  With his unusual background as a trained instructor, a police officer, a banker, a mortgage lender and a general contractor, Rik is a uniquely-qualified observer with a well-rounded skill-set for building inspection & investigation, defect recognition, supportive documentation & report writing, and clearly communicating the realities to you.

Rik has written and published more than a hundred articles for "The Real Estate Magazine", appeared as the Home Inspector on the first HGTV "House Detective" program and performed in the Home Inspection training video, "A Live, On-Site, Home Inspection". In 2003 he was interviewed on a KTVU Channel 2 News Housing Special.

Our clients have ranged from dignitaries and celebrities in multimillion dollar estates and villas to average Mr. or Ms. America in starter homes or studio condos. We absolutely love helping excited, first time buyers. We’ve had the pleasure of working for large corporations and modest, volunteer-staffed, community organizations. We’re grateful for a loyal core of savvy property investors that we have been fortunate to consistently serve over the years.

A leader in men's ministry at his church, Rik’s also been a Rotarian since 1985 and has served as president of two different Rotary Clubs. He is a Viet Nam era USAF veteran. Our hobbies include competitive pistol shooting and motorcycle touring, RV camping, music, singing, photography and Missy! We have two married sons.

Missy, the Australian Shepherd and smartest dog in the world, is the real ramrod of the outfit. She goes into the field to oversee most of Rik’s work. Her primary job description though is to help us to keep it fun, maintain a balanced, realistic perspective and generally see that we take breaks as often as she needs us to!
